The sound quality is undeniably great, though indeed the sound sometimes feels a bit compressed. The headphones are light and fit comfortably - I managed to wear these for 3 hours on end without soreness. All in all, the headphones were more than worth the $50. But what has turned me off from the k27i is its poor construction. After less than a month of use, the right cup of the headphones detached. Just cleanly and completely came off. There was no evidence of material fatigue or breakage, and, yes, after a couple of attempts to reattach the cup I succeeded. I also contacted AKG in an attempt to exercise the warranty, since my pair was definitely flawed. I know what you're thinking - shouldn't be anything to worry about, considering the 2-year manufacturing warranty. Well, I sent an email to AKG's U.S. branch of...Read more 16 of 17 people found the following review helpful: By Sound HUMONGOUS bass (although a bit mushy) and very articualte highs. The mids are a bit compressed, but this is mainly due to the articulate highs. Overall, great headphones, especially for mp3's, the low-impedance on these make them EXCELLENT for mp3's (can get very loud with the 5G ipod at 1/3 volume). These also do a very good job at suppressing noise (better than some in-ears). Very good for rock, tochno or classical. The carrying case is also spiffy. Comfort ehhh, not too comfertable at first for people with glasses... A bit tight, but they get better after 2 weeks or so. The self-adjusting headband works very well and the earpads are comfy. Style Very modern looking with the white earcups and metal headband. Looks great with the ipod, but beauty is in the...Read more 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I shopped online for probably two months before finally settling on these headphones. I wanted nice headphones to compliment my iPod, yet at an affordable price. The AKG K 27i is the perfect solution. After looking at other models by AKG, and other brands like Sennheiser and Bose, I thought I would have to spend at least $100 in order to get quality, but then I found these and I snatched them up.
The sound is excellent. When I first plugged them in, I thought they were a little quiet. But, then I discovered that there is a lanyard-style volume switch on the headphones themselves, which is fantastic. I don't have to reach into my pocket to turn the volume up or down on my iPod. The sound is very crisp and articulate, with deep, accentuating bass. And because these headphones are designed for portable mp3 players, my iPod is powerful enough to really push the drivers of the headphones. The soft ear pads offer great comfort for long listening (and sound...Read more |
