I think the Shure has better clarity (more precision) in the high-end, but the AKG definitely have more, stronger bass, which is one of the main complaints for Shure owners. However, I like the comfort of the optional moldable foam on the Shure better. Haven't try to see if the Shure foam will fits the AKG. One thing for sure, these can be found for much less elsewhere, even with Amazon's 10% discount ($72). 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Stephen "HowlingMad" T. In short: These were the worst headphones I've had (And I've had a lot!). Do not buy them. When I bought these they were $75. It's good to see the price has been reduced, but they're still not worth it. I got them to replace my cheapo $10 pair I'd had previously. The first thing I noticed when I opened them up was the looks. They're not silver and shiny like the picture, they're actually grey and plasticky (in fact, they're nothing like the picture). They feel cheap too. The second thing I noticed was the sound. It was worse than my $10 pair. Switching the rubber ear-cups for third-party ones improved the quality slightly, but they were still no better. The third thing I noticed was the bass. Rather than being punchy, it was more of a dull "thud", which made even The Monkees sound downbeat (I'm not an audiophile, I'm just explaining it as best I can). This dull "thud" gave me the biggest...Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: AKG K 321 In-Canal Bud Headphone - Cloud White (Electronics) These were supposed to replace a pair of sennheisers that put up with a year's worth of abuse. This come packaged in a way that the cable coming out of the jack is so tight that they are almost broke right out of the box. A first pair lasted a month. Took them back to the store and they replaced them with new ones (Which, of course, were packaged exactly the same way). I wanted to be extra careful this time so I used some tape to protect that first inch of cable that comes out of the jack. Just a few minutes ago I pulled them both out by accident and both protective rubbers came out and feel on the subway hehehe. Needless to say, I'm going back to the sennheisers. |
