I have owned quite a few headphones and I'm always on the search for better ones. I'm not going to list all the headphones I've owned as they are well reviewed, but to compare the sound of the AKG Q460's to anything I've owned, I would have to say it is like listening to the little brother of the Audio Technica ATH-M50. The Q460 tries to be as wide sounding and bass thumping but it seems it can do so only at the lower volume settings. The Mid bass definitely suffers at the higher volumes and does distort/clip (sounded like a kettle drum) just a little on the tracks with heavy emphasis in the 80-120Hz range. The high's are superb, vocals come across slightly muted (to me they are just right), but not as muted or glaring like others in the same category (Bose on ear variant/muted, or the Dre Beats/glaring like a 2 year old screaming). Really great headphones for listening to music through an mp3. The bass is phenomenal. ( personally, it is on par with dr. dre's solo beats hd, but much more distinctive bass than the muddy ones from dr. dre)

For all bass heads who are on a budget, but still wants a portable and comfortable headphone, you wouldn't want to ignore this one! (Buy this only if it is <$90) I don't think it is worth over $100 though.

The music control cable also only works with iphone/itouch, not android.

One more note: do not buy this headphone if you plan on using it on a digital piano. The sound is horrible using it on a digital piano. ( i suggest the steel wheels from pioneer [...]
