Product Review

The ATH-M2X Headphones are designed for maximized power handling capability, with a clear, linear low end response.

Amazon.com Product Review

Specifically designed for digital music with wide program dynamics, Audio-Technica's mid-size ATH-M2X headphones are perfect for use with home and project studios and portable digital-audio devices like CD, minidisc, and MP3 players. The headphones use an open-back design that lets its large, 40 mm drivers "breathe" better than closed-back designs, eliminating unwanted low-frequency resonances that often color the sound from closed-ear headphones. While this helps the sound quality, be aware that it also makes them a little noisier for those around you--and permits noise from without to be audible through the headphones.

The high-performance drivers use efficient, low-mass diaphragms that are easily driven by most headphone jacks. An 11.5-foot cable grants extended movement from and around your audio source, and the .125-inch-terminated cable comes with a .25-inch adapter plug for use with home audio components.

I recieved these headphones as a gift back 3 years ago for my 18th birthday. They've lasted all this time and still sound great, they have superb quality when used with my dell dj, cd player, everything. One of the ear pieces comes loose but that is due to my rought treatment not defective merchandise. I highly recommend these as they are an exceptional piece of equipment for the price.

I have some JVC headphones that were about $20, which has excellent sound, but was curious if I could get a better sound from another equally priced headphones. I think that these produce sound as if they cost $50, and durable. The super long cord is somewhat perplexing, but I guess it has it's uses.

These headphones didn't blow me away, but they are great for the listed price of $20. Bass is minimal (forget 'em if you're into hip-hop). As an unemployed college student these were the best I was able to afford after my other set suddenly stopped working.

They look and feel pretty cheap e.g. the thin plastic headband, the length adjustments. The cord is way too long for the on-the-go listener,so keeping it tied up to the appropriate length is a must. Not much to look at, but for me that's a plus, as I didn't want a set that looked like princess leia's side-buns - i.e. they aren't bulky or any sort of fashion statement. The ear padding is pretty comfortable, but after extended listening ( 4+ hours) they may get a bit uncomfortable.

If you are looking for a new set of quality headphones at a decent price, then these are probably the set for you. Certainly a major upgrade from ipod ear buds or any other similar basic set. All in all, these headphones are good...Read more
