I'm a newb to headphones. These are actually the first good cans I ever had. If I didn't get a GREAT deal from Electronic Expo, I probably will not buy these. I only recieved these couple days ago. Out of the box, they don't sound that great, of course. After few days of pink noise burn in, they sound much better. These are sooo good with female vocals; it's like they are singing right next to my ears. Some may think this is bad, but I love it. IMHO, These pack enough bass, just the right amount. The high is a bit too bright... hoping further burn in will make it better.
As I said... I'm only a newb... I used iBasso D4, yes a protable amp, to drive these. It is more than enough to drive them to a sufficient volume. D4 is a pretty neutral amp, so I don't think it is that bad. Have not coupled the w1000x with any other amp, yet.

Enough about my opinion on the sound quality, since I don't have that much experiences with high end headphones.
