beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 32 ohm Headphones

I've had my 32ohm DT900's for a week now, and I can't say that I have a single complaint about them. I'm an audiophile, and love good, LOUD, but very clean sound for my music. I listen to everything from death metal to hip hop to airy ambient music, and these headphones handle everything with grace and clarity! I strictly use them with portable devices (iPod & iPad) for listening to music in bed or at my desk while at work, so I can't comment on how well they work with an amp.

I've gone through MANY headphones in my time (Sony, Sennheiser, Grado, Panasonic, Denon and so on), and these are by far my favorite. They are larger and more bulky to lug around than most headphones I've used in the past for portable applications, but that's a small sacrifice to make for the superb listening experience! Sound:
I bought these headphones when looking for an excellent headphones for hearing music. I first tried the DT 880 which provided very poor basses, and really disappointed me. I then gave the DT 990 a try and was shocked by their sound. The DT 990 provides a rich and engaging experience like I never had with any headphones. To be fair, I never owned a professional grade headphones like the DT 990, but I'm listening to music at least 5 hours a day. The DT 990 makes all my familiar tracks sound amazing. It gives me the goose bumps every time! The DT 990 throws you right into the track you're listening and lets you hear all the nuances you never noticed before. If you like strong basses and feeling "inside" your music, these are the headphones for you.

Comfort:
The DT 990 are super comfortable. I can wear them for hours without feeling them.

Finally, I found some KILLER Headphones! I've also tried a couple of the other Beyer Dynamic models, (DT770 & DT880) both had higher OHMs and I liked them but they weren't quite right. These DT 990's are the Headphones I've been looking for and the sound is fantastic!

I'm running them into my PC (X-Fi Sound Card) without any AMP and they blow my older Sony MDR V900's out of the water. The DT 990's are very detailed, have plenty of Bass and are extremely comfortable. I did a lot of research and finally settled on these and I could not be happier! If you are on the fence about buying these because there is a shortage of reviews on the Web, don't be. Trust me when I say these Headphones are the BOMB!

The only other thing I can add is to purchase the right OHM model for your application. 32 OHMs for PC's, MP3 Players, etc. without needing a dedicated AMP to drive them.
