Summary: Bang for the buck 2008-07-29
Comment: I picked these up at a Pepboys while buying lightbulbs. I saw them on sale and considering the price, these bad boys are definitely worth it. Will you get the kind of sound that will make you swoon? No. Will you be transported into a vacuum-like environment with all the noise-canceling technology? No. But will you have to pay $100+ to get something that can? Also no.
The bottom line is that these are decent headphones for someone who wants to upgrade from the pair they hand out on airplanes. They come with the airline jack adapter already so you are all set. The noise canceling feature definitely works in reducing the amount of engine noise you hear on the plane. I wore these back and forth on a flight from LA to Japan and found them to be very comfortable especially since I wear them over glasses.
You simply cannot beat the price so why bother complaining. If you're strapped for cash you can definitely do much worse - like using the airplane handouts.

Summary: Noise Cancellation works fine if you're in a library 2008-06-13
Comment: I previously had the silver Coby NC headphones, but they broke (as is a common complaint with that model). Since the sound they produced plus the canceling feature work good, I figured I'd try Coby again, but just a different model that wouldn't break so easily. Well, the CV194 is a lot more flexible and and better constructed. But apparently the "sound guy" was not invited to the designing meeting. I used the silver ones on the bus I take to work and they sounded fine, with or without the cancellation active. The CV194, however, have no bass and a sound that could be reproduced if you had 2 empty metal cans strapped to your head. And then you turn on the noise cancel feature...it just gets worse. I had to take the lesser of 2 evils and just leave the canceling feature off in order to get a better sound that didn't keep dropping out every time there was the slightest noise anywhere around me. If Coby took the sound features from their silver pair and the construction of this pair and merged them, they may actually have a solid product.
