Coby High Perforamance Noise-Canceling Isolation Stereo Earphones CVE197 (Black)

With earbud pricing ranging from a few dollars to over $200, it is hard to know just how much to spend and what you are going to get for your money. But, I can say these earbuds are amazing for the money. The frequency response is great! Good bass and clean highs. The noise cancelling is not the best in the world, but quite adequate and better than nothing. Comes with a convenient carrying bag along with the airplane adapter and two additional size rubber cushions (and the battery). I think they are amazing for the money!

I was disappointed when, after wrangling the clamshell packaging off of these guys, I felt really cheap headphones. The plastic container that holds the battery feels like dollar store garbage.

The worst part, however, is that the "noise reduction" mode actually ADDs a tinny buzzing to the music. No matter how loud or soft I play my music, I can still hear it and it drives me insane. Imagine a very old tube television on mute, to get a feel for the sound I'm describing. It doesn't seem to do any actual active noise canceling.

I was surprised the Coby CVE197 noise canceling earbuds could perform as well as they do for the price. When I first looked at noise canceling headphones a few years ago the few I could find went for about $200. Now for under $20 I can sleep at night without jerking wake every time my poor nervous adopted Shih Tzu barked. The earbuds are so comfortable, I am able to keep them in all night and forget they are there.

I found the stereo response to be adequate for music and radio dramas. Although I no longer travel, I thought the inclusion of the two pronged adapter for airplane use to be a thoughtful addition to the package.
