Summary: Not as good as I read 2008-10-03
Comment: Etymotic Research ER6i Isolator In-Ear Earphones (White) The sound is OK, not as good as a pair of Sonys I bought at radio shack for $100.00. The noise cancellation on the Sonys is amazing, and on the Etymotics its mediocre. Also the bass on the Etymotics is not great. All in all I rate them a weak 4 out of 5

Summary: Great for Motorcycle riders... 2008-10-03
Comment: I've tried a lot of different brands over the years and these continue to be the best for motorcycle riding/touring under your helmet. They suppress all the outside noise similar to regular ear plugs which allows you to run lower volume levels and yet still be able to hear sirens and horns and such when your scooting along, as well as people talking to you when you're stopped. I haven't had an issue with them breaking like others have mentioned and the only reason I'm on a new pair is because I had a "conflict" with a tractor trailer on I-75 and somewhere between the accident site and being rushed to the emergency room they disappeared. I do have spare ear flanges and filters though I've yet to use them, just keep your ears clean and clean the flanges with rubbing alcohol every so often. I would also recommend that you use either a small amount of KY or just lick them before inserting them into your ears, that helps them to be seated properly and helps with comfort over a long trip on consecutive days...

Summary: Not for active people! Very fragile wires and filters! 2008-10-02
Comment: I have been through 3 pair of ER 6i earbuds from etymotic in the past 1 1/2 years. They are very fragile, require frequent replacement of the filters (any tiny amount of sweat from activity will immediately block all sound from coming through the filter). These earbuds CANNOT be used for running (I have tried more times than is rational because I did like the sound quality). The wires are not solidly held into the plug pin so going jogging even a few times with them results in at least one bud cutting on and off a few times then complete silence. To be fair, Etymotic was decent about replacing them free of charge during my 1 year warranty, but I am tired of losing my tunes during long runs and having to send them back again and again.

Summary: The hot tip for use on a motorcycle 2008-09-30
Comment: If your searching for headphones/speakers to listen to music while riding a motorcycle, these are the best sounding, noise canceling headphones you will ever hear. The ER6I'S fit comfortably in my ears and with my XM-radio, I can listen to music all the way across the country without looking for stations. Others headphones might sound good standing in a store, but put on a helmet, go 70 mph and they hurt your ears and let all the wind overwhelm your music.
I give the ER6I an A+!!!

Summary: Excellent earplugs/earbuds 2008-09-30
Comment: I've owned a dozen earbuds/headphones. These aren't the most comfortable, but block BY FAR the most external sound. (More than the Bose sound cancelation headphones.) Pretty amazing. (Would be dangerous if you were trying to jog or bike.) Having to wet the tips is a bit of a hassle, but seems necessary, and in the end is worth it. They are pretty great, sound is excellent. Def worth the price. (Think I paid $70-something or so. Sound quality is better than more expensive earbuds. )
