The execution is lacking in one huge way. First of all, it is a great idea to have the bluetooth audio broadcaster be able to plug into ANY audio jack. Very universal and works with any audio device where you can plug headphones. The bluetooth receiver is a decently small size and any headphones - in my case my iPod earbuds, plug nicely. I used it today running on the treadmill and the volume was excruciatingly low even when turned all the way up. I could not hear most of the audio while running in the gym. This totally defeats the purpose. You cannot increase the audio to be able to hear dialogue/lyrics. To get an idea of how low the sound is... the maximum volume the bluetooth receiver is capable of receiving is just slightly above 1/2 the max volume on the iPhone 3G. (Note: my iPhone was on MAX volume output and was only broadcasting at about the 1/2 max level.)...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By JmC (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: HP KD031AA#ABA Bluetooth Pendant Headphone (Electronics) Just bought this item last week. I was looking for an efficient (while frugal) way to get audio from my TV to my couch using Bluetooth technology. This set is very well designed in general, but 2 things strike me as lower value: 1) The attached cord in the transmitter seems very fragile (only time will tell). 2) Sound quality and volume of the kit (please read below). As I read in other reviews, the sound level/quality using the included headphones is lower. Then I thought of checking the level/quality connecting the included headphones directly to the source (iPod). The quality was the same, BUT the volume was slightly lower. So I did what just sounded as the next step: Try other headphones and re-evaluate. This made a BIG difference. I used a pair of older (better quality headphones) and to my surprise, the quality of sound using BT was almost as good as connecting the quality headphones directly to the source. I can't understand why HP would pack a...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: HP KD031AA#ABA Bluetooth Pendant Headphone (Electronics) Sound quality was fine for me, and so was volume - had to turn up my TV input, but it was plenty loud (probably depends on what kind of headphones you use). As far as range, I walked about 30 feet through two rooms, and had no problem.
Dealbreaker for me was LAG with audio!! I tried to use this with TV while exercising, and there's a 0.5 second lag that is intolerable if you're watching video. Might be okay if you're just listening to music. No adjustments possible with device, nor any warning. Only used for one day before returning, so no comment on longterm quality - certainly feels cheap, I wouldn't expect much. Too bad there's so little available on the market. My backup plan is now to get an FM transmitter, sound quality will be reduced, but should be no problems with lag. |
