Summary: A Bargain. 2008-11-07
Comment: We bought these JBL Noise Canceling Headphones about 1 1/2 years ago. My fiancee (now wife) was traveling to Russia and wanted such headphones for the plane. As luck would have it, we discovered a coupon at our local warehouse store which offered them at half price. A real bargain! However, when we got to the store we discovered that they didn't have any. They were sold out, except for the display model. Evidently it was a stunning price on a popular item and there was a major rush on them. My wife was annoyed and spoke to a manager. He apologized and said they would have no more in the future. He then offered to sell her the display model. It was without the box and the instructions, but he gave her a 50% price reduction. Wow! That's 50% off an item that's already 50% off. For a highly-rated set of headphones? There's no way we could turn away from such a bargain! Who needs a box and instructions anyway?
My wife reported that the headphones worked splendidly on the plane. It was just what she wanted. She used them mainly for watching movies. Since that time, the headphones have been seldom used. On occasion, I listen to music on my computer with them. I prefer listening via my stereo speaker system, but I've used the headphones when I didn't want to annoy anyone with some of my more esoteric electronic music. They aren't bad at all. I'd say the noise reduction wasn't as great as I expected, although my wife says I'm very hard to contact when I've got the headphones on. The fidelity seems totally acceptable to me, although I have no other headphones with which to compare. Let's put it this way, I have no complaints. If sound quality is of uppermost interest to you, you might seek the advice of an audiophile for fidelity appraisal. The headphones seem comfortable for me to wear, at least through a CD or two. Altogether, I find them satisfactory and welcome addition to my music playback equipment and, considering the cost, they were an astonishing bargain.

Summary: Good headphones for the price 2008-10-05
Comment: I have had these headphones for about 8 months now, and have not had any problems with the build quality of them. They sound great, something that you would expect from JBL, the only problem that I have with these is that they are uncomfortable wearing for more than 30-40 minutes. I thought that the pain would go away, but it seems to just have gotten worse instead of having the headphones "broken in". If you have a small head, then these would be perfect for you, otherwise, plan on having to take them off or reposition them every half hour or so.
With the noise cancelling function, they are fairly good. On planes, they block out all of the engine noise which is the reason why I bought these. However with the case of most NC headphones, they do not block out conversations, they just muffle them (Quite a bit, but not completely).
I rated these a 4 simply because of the pain from wearing them extended periods of time, the sound quality definitely deserves a 5.

Summary: Frequent Flier's Best Friend 2008-07-08
Comment: These were a Father's Day gift for my husband. He was thrilled to get them - he is a frequent flier and was going to fly the next day. He loves the headphones! These are especially suited for him as he sweats easily and these sit on the ear, not over the ear as most other noise cancelling headphones do. And the price was right!

Summary: Great sounding headphones, but poor mechanical design 2008-05-30
Comment: Pros: These headphones sound fantastic over a wide frequency range. The noise cancellation is good for the price. They fold up nicely so they're good to travel with.
Cons: Mechanical design is very bad. The noise cancellation DSP is housed in an external package that hangs from the headphones, which gets very annoying. The ear cushion comes off very eaisly. Worst of all, the left ear piece snapped off after only about 6 or 7 months of normal use. Very disappointing.

Summary: Excellent Headphones 2008-02-29
Comment: Very nice headphones, specially for the price. Great sound. Noise reduction is not that great though, but the headphone sits very snugly over the ears and blocks out most of the outside noise as such.
