I have been so pleasently surprised by the sound quality and comfort of these IEMs. Walked into Fry's and wanted to try a few sets. Very well balanced. Bass is solid and not bloated. Mids are great and highs are great. I mostly use them for Pandora streaming music which they do very well. They shine w a better source such as with non compressed audio. Setting the EQ settings to preference puts out a stunning sound signature. Sound strage is wide for IEMs. Very worth the asking price. Great value.

I was a little disappointed when I first heard these things after I bought them but then I let them break in over night (using my Zune set the volume to 3/4 or interval 15 . here's how they sound the Highs and Mids are very clear 9 out of 10, If you like Thumping base these aren't for you, The Bass is there and its clear. the bass when listening to Rock (avenged sevenfold "all their CDs", breaking Benjamin "all their CDs", Papa Roach "Time is Running out,Not Listening, Had Enough (Acoustic)") I would say the Bass comes in at 6 out of 10. when listening to R&B (Bruno Mars "Whole CD", Kanye West "Amazing, welcome to Heart break, Heartless, and Love Lock Down", Lady Gaga "Bad Romance, Love Game, Telephone, Just Dance") I would give them 7 out of 10. Rap I don't have a whole lot off so I just used Jay-Z "Empire State of mind, Young forever", T-pain "Bartender", Akon "Sunny day, Be with you, Keep you much Longer, Beautiful, and (Sorry, Blame it on me)" Eminem "Kill you, Love the way you...Read more

Testing and reviewing Headphones and IEMs is one of my hobby. Some IEMs that I've tested before are Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10, Shure SE530, Westone 3 and UM3X, and many Audio Technica IEMs. Some IEMs currently in my inventory, JVC HAFXC80 that I'm going to review, JVC HAFXC51B, Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10, ATH-CK7, T-Jays 3, ATH-CKM50, Hippo Shroom & Shroom EB, Superlux HD381 series, etc.
From my experience, some IEMs need burn-in, and some don't change after burn-in. JVC HAFXC80 (and JVC HAFXC51B) is one that needs proper burn-in. Before burn-in the bass seems to stand on it's own, doesn't integrate well with the music, and a bit boomy. The treble was also a tad sharp. After more than 60 hours burn-in, the bass is less boomy, and blends well with the music, the treble also smoother, just nice, not too sharp and not dull.
JVC HAFXC80 build quality is very good, the housing is very light, JVC said it is made of carbon, not ordinary plastic. For me, it is also very...Read more
