3.0 out of 5 stars Unique in their class, but a big flaw, January 14, 2011

Having owned two pairs over a period of about three years, here's what I've got:

1) Durability - I've traveled with them a ton. I've crammed them into jacket and even pants pockets on occasion (the "flat" design really comes in handy). They store very well but most importantly, they've held up. 2) Sound Quality - As others have mentioned, they sound pretty darn good. Not amazing - once you creep up past $60 or so, headphones start to separate instruments and reveal things in your music you've never heard before. These will not do any of that, but everything is clear and smooth sounding, not muddy. 3) Comfort - This is the one glaring flaw...these headphones are not comfortable. They'll feel nice enough when you first put them on, but it only takes a few minutes for the exceptionally small earcups, which rest all around the surface of your ear, to put the hurt on. The cheap pleather really makes itself known.

Overall - Their major strength is the ability to...Read more

Okay, I have a confession to make: I am a headphone serial killer. Seriously, I probably go through five pairs of headphones a year, and the cause of death is always the same: The wires wear out, I lose hearing in one ear, and then they just completely stop working. I listen to music a lot, so I wanted high quality stereo headphones that have good bass and are comfortable to wear. However, HD headphones will run you $40+, and I didn't have the money for that at the time. After my most recent murder, I purchased the pink headphones for $18 at my local Wal-Mart, and I was very impressed with them. First of all, the padding on them makes them extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Also, coming from a clumsy chick who often accidentally steps/sits on her headphones, the design of these JVC phones makes them virtually industructible. They are made of a very thick, durable plastic and a strong, metal-like material--rather than the cheapy plastic of most headphones...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for. . ., April 29, 2011

I read reviews for a bunch of different headphones and chose these, not really knowing what to expect but resigned that if they weren't great, they were only $19.
Turns out, they are perfect. They fold up to fit in jacket pocket or bag and provide good enough sound from my iphone. I have bought 4 or 5 headphones over the years, from expensive to mid-line and these cheaper ones. All the more expensive headphones broke or shorted out and were cumbersome. These are sleek and lightweight and allow you to hear travel advisories on the train. If they break or are stolen, no big deal, I leave my nice headphones at home and buy another pair of these. Hope this review helps.
