2.0 out of 5 stars Hiss and break-up, January 10, 2001

This review is from: Koss JR900 Cordless Stereo Headphones (Electronics)
If you like quiet music or wish to be mobile then these are definitely not for you.Unless the volume reaches a certain level, then there is just too much hiss. To drown out the hiss you either need to increase the volume sufficiently that you cannot hear anything else in the room (that's not very high since these are closed earphones), or play different music.Even when you are within 2 meters of the transmitter, moving your head just a couple of inches can result in signal break-up.If you are prepared to sit still and listen to rock music at the right volume then the sound quality really is quite good. However for over $200 more flexibility is expected both in terms of mobility and clearity. In mono the hiss goes away, as does the signal breakup (within 10 meters). However, you are paying for stereo headphones. The batteries don't last long (maybe 4 hours) and to recharge them you must connect a cable between the headphones and the base unit and push a switch on the base...Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Classical listeners will be disappointed, October 18, 2000

Listening to classical CDs throughout the house was my goal in purchasing these cordless headphones. General reception is pretty good, although it does fade in and out somewhat as I move through the house. Most annoying, however, is a constant background hiss, which distracts from the high quality sound I hoped for. Your satisfaction with this product will probably depend on your listening preferences. Most radios stations and many pop-type CDs would come through just fine. Discriminating lovers of more quiet music will not be satisfied.

3.0 out of 5 stars Koss Has Balls Asking This Price For These Headphones!, February 15, 2006

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Koss JR900 Cordless Stereo Headphones (Electronics)
Ok lets face it, wireless headphones certainly haven't been perfected yet and any wireless headphones that operate on radio frequency (like these headphones) are going to have some kind of hissing and reception noise but I expected a little more at this price from Koss considering they're suppose to be state of the art in headphones! For Koss to have the balls to ask $300.00 (at Koss.com $400.00) for these is totally ridiculous! These wireless headphones are no better than wireless headphones that cost anywhere between $50.00 - $100.00. The sound quality is a little better than cheaper wireless headphones but what sinks these is the reception. I don't recommend these for this price, it's a total rip off! The only benefit to owning these is the lifetime warranty.
