My apple ear buds were uncomfortable and I could never get the volume up over outside ambient sound. I picked these up at buy.com for a whopping $6.99 with free shipping. One listen to Steely Dan's, Aja was all I needed to render judgment: They are absolutely incredible. Great bass, clear treble, no distortion. The tom toms were practically tapping on my head. The only downside is that I had to buy the candy red set. But with all that sound for 7 bucks - I ain't complaining. I seriously doubt you will either.

As good as, if not better than, Bang & Olufsen,

I friend of mine bought a pair of Bang & Olufsen EarSet 3 headphones for about $200...after comparing the sound of his headphones and mine with the same music on the same device....I didn't have the heart to tell him that my headphones, the Koss KE29 headphones sounded better...but they are. The bass of the Koss is much deeper and the treble just as crisp. These headphones are the best that I've ever owned. They are like wearing ear plugs with speakers. I can wear them while using my noisy string trimmer (aka weed whacker) and I can almost not even hear it running. Then I turn on some tunes and trim the whole yard...it's awesome. You can even buy replacement silicone ear pads from Koss for a very reasonable $5 for five pairs...they don't try to take you to the cleaners for them.
Frequency response:
Koss: 12-20,000 Hz
Bang & Olufsen: 20-20,000 Hz

Maybe others may Like design of these. The part that normally split the wires, where one goes in one ear and one in the other, well one is about 4 in long the other about a foot. Sound quality also not what I expected. Very unsatsified feel like I wasted my money.
