Terrible sound quality, maybe OK for audiobooks,

My last pair of earbuds died without warning, and once again I have entered the frustrating search for the perfect affordable earbuds. I've been through many and they either sound great and don't fit, sound terrible but fit well, or do both OK but have some other crippling design defect. These Koss buds fit into the second category. The largest earcup provided in the kit locked the buds into my ear canal perfectly. They stayed inserted during my standard head shaking tests. That's the good news and the only reason I gave them two stars instead of one. The bad news is they sound terrible. Despite Koss's claim of strong bass, the bass response on mine is very weak. Otherwise the sound has a noticeable lack of depth or richness, and has a strong dose of the "tinnyness" that is inherent in non-musical earphone applications, such as Bluetooth, 2 way radios, etc. I know that placement in the ear canal can affect sound quality, especially bass, so I moved them around as much as I could...Read more

I'll keep this short. the sound quality is mixed, they have a really nice deep base if you have a really nice seal which is easy to achieve thanks to the ear-cups. at the same time depending on what song you're listening to, the treble is a bit too much to the point where my head starts to ache, it might be too much treble for some.
Not Stereo,

Cons: One review said that L and R markings on the buds were faint. Perhaps that doesn't matter. A test of L and R with my computer showed sound comes out of BOTH earbuds. Another test with the same computer program on a pair of cheap Sony ear buds put L only on the left bud and R only on the right bud. Simply put, these buds are MONO and not stereo...or that my paritcular buds are defective. So, either false stereo claim, or shoddy quality control, it still amounts to a condemnation of this product :/
I've had my pair for several months. The vaunted "isolation ring" is rubber, silicone, or some such. The ring is seen in the picture and is the black band between the two silver bands. It soon breaks and falls off. No biggie since it doesn't mar the aesthetics with or without. Do you lose a big feature once the band breaks and falls away? No. The isolation ring feature doesn't work anyway.
Pros: On the positive side, I do like two features quite a...Read more
