Koss KTXPRO1 Titanium Portable Headphones with Volume Control

Comment: The Koss KTXPRO1 headphones are a very good buy for the money. The sound is excellent, with more bass (but not too much) than Sony's. I use the volume control a lot more than I thought I would, & now I can't imagine headphones w/o one. The only slight negative is that I possess very little hair on top of my head, & the piece that helps hold the 'phones on doesn't grip well enough when I look down: opps! Headphones in my lap! They are comfortable for wearing for several hours at a time. All in all, I <3 these.

Comment: I have two other higher-end headphones, a set of Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros and Grado SR60i's. While the treble isn't as pronounced and crisp as those headphones, considering the Beyers cost well over $250-300 and the Grados go for $75+, for $15 these Koss phones are a steal. Their sound is well balanced overall, with clear midrange and bass that isn't remotely muddy or boomy. The treble is a bit soft but isn't remotely harsh like some cheaper phones; a bit of tweaking your treble tone controls is all you need to fix it up. They don't sound honky like most any other headphone I've tried at 3x the price, like some of the low-end Sennheiser phones and nearly any Sony product I've tried. Natural sounding is probably the best I can describe these phones with a bit of a soft high end.

You can't go wrong for inexpensive headphones with this set. It's gotta be one of the best values for headphones.

Comment: Just as everyone says - but the volume control is NOT gray like in the photo - it's black and these are EXACTLY the same as the same Titanium headphones I bought from Radio Shack a few years ago - - - NO DIFFERENT / just at a great price... so glad I found them here!

Just wish the blue thing over the head was more "in style" but who cares... the rubber part keeps it on my head while I'm jogging. It's good.

Comment: I purchased these to use with my TV in my bedroom to listen to at night while my wife is trying to sleep. Had to purchase a different pair because my wife could still hear the sound while I was wearing them. I then tried them with my iphone. They work okay but I find them vevy uncomfortalble on my ears. I think it's because the speakers pivot and don't fit flat on your ears. I can't seem to adjust them to fit good. I have a size 7 head which is on the small side and my wife can still hear the music if she is near me. I didn't pay much for them because I purchased them off ebay for about $10.00 I replaced them with a pair of Sennheiser HD 202 I bought off Amazon for about $27.00. What a difference, a litle bit heavier but a lot more confortable better sound quality and when I wear them connected to the TV at night my wife can't hear anything. Would highly recommend the Sennheiser if your using them with a sound system.

Comment: I've been using this model headphone in its various incarnation for almost 15 years. The fact that I keep coming back for the same set of headphones every time a pair breaks down speaks for itself.

I first found these at as a RadioShack branded headphone for $20 back in the mid 1990's, and was amazed by the sound quality given the price point. I use these headphones as my workout headphones, so they get a good beating, causing me to need to replace them every couple of years, and I always seemed to return to RadioShack to buy the exact same pair.

At some point in the mid 2000's the RadioShack branded model disappeared from the shelves and was replaced by the Koss branded model (exact same headphones, just a different name) for $40. Even at $40 I thought they were worth it and continued to replace them as they wore out.

Most recently I returned again to RadioShack to pick up yet a replacement pair and found RadioShack no longer carried them under any name, so I turned to the internet and found them here on Amazon. At $15!! How psyched was I?!?

I share all this just to point out that, year after year, I have yet to find a better pair of over-the-head earphones, even when they were priced as high as $40. They sound great - fantastic, balanced bass response - they're comfortable as over-the-head earphones get.

My only critique is that the inline volume control wears out over time and you lost audio in one ear. My solution has been to just tape the inline control in place to keep the volume control from moving, and adjust the volume from my iPod.
