Summary: Major flaw, hit-or-miss 2008-05-16
Comment: I've owned two pairs of these headphones in the last four years, both purchased from Radio Shack: one in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the other in Fairbanks, Alaska.
On first use, these headphones are great. They do an excellent job of blocking outside sounds, provide good sound quality when compared with the cost, and are somewhat durable. I've run into problems with the plastic earphone coverings shaving off over time, but that's not my main problem.
The main problem I've had is that the volume control on the headphone cable is designed poorly. Though the cable can take some beating, any shocks to the headphone volume control will cause the connections within to eventually loosen and cause sound loss. In my use, I went from nice stereo sound to staticky stereo sound to poor mono sound to no sound at all over the course of several weeks.
In my first set of headphones, I was able to remedy the problem by cracking open the plastic casing of the volume control and doing a little DIY repair. When the second pair began to die after just a few weeks, I threw them away and got a pair of headphones I knew I could trust.
In short, don't be fooled by initial impressions. Though these are good headphones on the surface, I can't recommend them due to their poor durability.

Summary: Great money/value ratio and they last 2008-04-04
Comment: I see a lot of people complaining about these not lasting a long time - I have had a different experience; I bought these over 4 years ago and they just barely gave up the ghost, and only because I was careless pulling them out of my backpack (one of the sides broke off). If I had put them in a case or small bag or something, I wouldn't be replacing them.
For the money, the sound and functionality and comfort of these is great - I have used them at work for long periods of time (sometimes wearing them 7 hours of an 8 hour work day) and notice very little fatigue; I also own a pair of Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro earphones (retail for $250) and while they sound better, they are only marginally better considering the cost.
To sum it up, I am actually replacing my now-broken UR-29s with a new pair of the same - that is how much I like them and consider them a good deal. Unless you are super picky and looking to impress someone else, these are an amazing deal that you should jump on. Just make sure you treat them with respect, anything abused will break and YMMV.

Summary: Koss UR 29 2006-07-29
Comment: When I first bought these headphones I was amazed at the quality and at how well they blocked out outside sounds, allowing me to really hear what was coming through the headphones. Whether I am using these on my computer, keyboard or with my guitar I get excellent sound, and all for such a reasonable price.
