Product Description
Classic style headphones that go over-the-head & over-the-ear and include volume control Amazon.com Product Description
Maxell's folding stereo headphones offer an inline volume control to adjust the listening level from your portable MP3, CD, minidisc, PDA, or cassette player while you're on the go. This frees you to place your listening device in deep in a pocket, purse, or backpack without surrendering the ability to increase or decrease your listening level. The HP-700Fs use large, 30 mm drivers for full-bodied sound. Their open-ear design means the sound will be less subject to coloration and unwanted resonance than closed-ear models, though some sound may bleed in and out to and from the earpieces. The headphones' adjustable headband gives you form-fitting comfort.

Summary: These headphones are the worst 2004-10-30
Comment: I purchased these headphones to use with my portable mp3 player. Technically, I purchased the HP-700 model which does not fold, but I assume they are similar.
Right on the packaging, it says "Gold plated mini-plug" yet the plug is NOT gold-plated at all, it is in fact a standard nickel-plated mini plug. The sound is incredibly tinny and even with the volume control is lower volume than my Sony headphones without the volume control. In addition, the plug does not create a tight fit with the player, so that as you move on a cardio machine, it slides around and causes static and lack of sound in the headphones.
This is the second pair of Maxell headphones I have had trouble with in the past 6 months. I have learned my lesson. NO MORE MAXELL!
