Summary: Abysmal - painful to wear and huge 2008-04-08
Comment: I currently own the RCA HPNC050 and SONY noise canceling headphones and was looking for a new pair to buy for my son. The Jensen's looked reasonably priced and sized and were available with prime shipping.
However, they are the first pair of headphones I've ever purchased that were actually painful to wear. The headpiece is angled so that it doesn't fit flat on your head - instead the weight rests on the back ridge. Worse, the hinge in the middle is slightly below the ridge so most of the weight of the headphones is actually resting on one point - in the middle of your head.
Also, when folded they are much bigger than the RCAs and not much smaller than the SONYs - which don't fold at all!
Avoid these headphones.

Summary: 5 years and still like new 2008-02-06
Comment: Bought these Jensen JNC50 Noise Canceling Collapsible Headphones (Silver) about 5 years ago and they are still going strong. I don't use them all the time but I can be hard on things when I throw them in a bag with books and keys. The fold-up hinges have stood up to my abuse.
I use them on the subway because you can't hear any but the loudest music over the roar of the train. It does the job. I can still hear train announcements and people talking to me, but it blocks out the roar enough to hear my audiobooks and music clearly -- although I still need to crank the volume. That's just how mp3 players are though (I was using a Sansa with these.)
The sound quality, to me, is very good -- better than any medium-priced earbuds I have tried. However, I have never listened to a $300 pair before. If they sound much better than these I'd be surprised. I have also tried them patched through my X-Fi Xpod and with DVD's on my Laptop -- Wow! That's fun! Apparently I missed all of my roommates' attempts to ring the doorbell and yell for me to let them in while watching that movie. They were pissed! :D
I reserve 5 star ratings for unbelievably good items. These are very very nice but didn't blow me out of the water. Great durability. Great battery life (if you don't leave them on.)

Summary: Probably the best for the money 2007-10-18
Comment: I've tried several different brands of noise canceling headphones and some are better than others. I picked up this Jensen product because my "more expensive" headphones got broken on my last trip. I really only intended to use them once then I was going to fix or replace my originals.
I used the Jensens on a six hour flight and I was suprised to discover that they were every bit as good as the set I paid nearly 4 times the money for. They are comfortable and do a good job of filtering out the drone of the aircraft engine. The adaptor for the airplane audio system fit perfectly. The headphones fold up nicely for storage.
The bottom line as far as I'm concerned is that I wish I would have known about these headphones before I spent the money on my "good set". Great headphones for way less money.

Summary: I don't think these work 2005-12-22
Comment: I received these headphones yesterday and besides putting pressure on my eardrums that makes me feel like I have a slight ear ache I don't think these actually cancel any noise.
I did a lot of research on noise canceling headphones before I purchased them. I understand that active noise canceling only cancels noise in certain frequencies and that they won't completely block out the outside world. As far as I can tell all these headphones do is make the music a little louder and the bass a little deeper. I've tried them on the bus, in my car and in a noisy server room. In none of these places have I really noticed any difference in ambient noise.
I would not purchase these headphones and I'm going to see if I can return the ones I purchased.
