Favors mid-range and high-end clarity over powerful bass,

I use earbuds a lot, and tend to buy some of them to test drive. My preferred buds for the past few years have been Koss "The Plug". So I wondered: would these be a new or improved version from Koss?
Note: at the time of this review, the price for this item was higher than from other sellers of Koss Mirage. Shop around!
THE TEST
Listened to my usual mix of music (pop, rock, electronic, world, podcast) for a couple of hours, then switched back to the standard. I figured that I needed a couple of hours to get used to them, and then the differences would be obvious when I switched.
SUBJECTIVE IMPRESSIONS
Before the comparison, I noted that the sound was lighter, with perhaps better articulation of the mid-range and high end. The bass is there, but not at all boomy, or even really that strong.
