After many hours of researching phones, I came to a decision on these, and I don't regret it at all. Since amazon reviews helped me so much to make my choice, I figured I'd write one myself...

Let me start off by saying I had been debating between these, Sennheiser HD-202s, and a couple Audio Techinca models. The JVC HARX700 was at the top of my list until the price started rising higher and higher...

I almost spent another 15 bucks and got either a set of ATH-M30, ATH-M35, or ATH-M40 phones. After listening to the HTF600s, I'm not sure if anything else in this price range would have gotten me any better of a headphone. It was a decision to either get a very high quality set in the hundreds of dollars price range, or get a decent midrange set. I'd imagine most midrange sets sound pretty similar... so why spend another 15 bucks? And yes, If I stumble into some money, ATH M50s are on my want list... It'd be nice to try those (or something similar) out as...Read more

When I first got these they were bassy and the highs were nowhere to be found and the mids were very shy..

After about 8 hours I wondered what I was going to do with these..THEN..about the 15 hour mark they CAME ALIVE..

The most amazing transformation I've ever encountered with headphones..The soundstage..The mids not muddied by the bass anymore..the whole range just came alive..And the bass just boomed

Best $35 I've ever spent..I'd spend $50 or more..

These phones have smile inducing bass. It's not loose or flabby and doesn't extend into the mids like the Dre's, it also reaches really, really low and gets punchy, I like that. A lot of bassy phones tend to be just about that, but these have a decent soundstage and imaging good enough for gaming. The mids aren't recessed or overpowered by the bass and have good detail, not quite as much as the Sennheiser HD-580/600, but c'mon, those cost around 10x as much. The htf600 may be just a tad darker sounding in the mids. The highs aren't anywhere near headache making bright like the DT-770(IMO YMMV)or recessed and grainy or one note hsss hsss like a lot of lower end phones.
It does most things right, that's hard to find in a $25 phone. Hell, that's hard to find in a $80 phone. The biggest drawback is the pleather pads, they tend to get sweaty where it touches you, but you can eliminate that by getting the Beyerdynamic EDT200 velour pads for $20ish. The build quality seems to be less...Read more
