5.0 out of 5 stars Philips Does it Again with the SHE6001!!, June 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read the above review & cannot say that I agree at all. But it does show how subjective headphones are. If you can, try these out before you buy them (perhaps from a friend?)
I have been a huge fan of the predecessor to these headphones which were the now dis-continued SHE5920 for years. These are (I think,) a cosmetically updated version of these robust earbuds.
I don't know if there is anything else really that different about these 6001's other than the more modular look & the fact that Philips has elected to go with a more traditional "iPod style" cable (that simply hangs down in front of you,) as opposed to the older superior design that would wrap the cord around the back of your neck, thus never letting them fall to the floor if they pop out of your ears... Se la vie.
And these NEVER pop out of my ears like those ridiculous iPod ear-buds or many 3rd party brands do.
I have heard some complain that these buds don't fit some peoples' ears & that is a...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, July 5, 2010
This review is from: Philips SHE6000/28 In-Ear Surround Sound Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
Like the previous reviewer noted, its sounds like if these are comfortable to you, then you're golden. They come with four different sized ear buds; I switched out the larger ones for the one size smaller and they fit perfectly. I've been listening to them for 3 hours now and I'm having no problems.

In terms of sound quality - bass is strong, but not the largest bass presence. I prefer it this way, just because it clears up the mid and high range sounds much better overall. I listen to mainly electronica and classical and for these purposes I love these headphones. Honestly, the sound isolation is excellent and I can hear every note very cleanly, though it is somewhat subdued as compared to the jlabs I used to have (which unceremoniuously lost all sound in the right bud without any warning). On that note, I much prefer these, just because the music sounds much clearer and undistorted. For $15, they're an excellent value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why I Love These Things, November 12, 2010
This review is from: Philips SHE6000/28 In-Ear Surround Sound Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
Let me just say, right away... I am NOT an audiophile. You know what, anyone who starts with "I'm an audiophile" isn't. If you're sitting there, with your iPod rocking out your 128kbps mp3's, thinking you're an audiophile... guess what... you're not. Having a lot of songs does not an audiophile make.

Right then, having said that... I'll tell you why these things are great.

1. I prefer canal-phones. They block out noise and are way more comfortable than the traditional iPod round style that you have to cram in your ear and hope they don't fall out while you're in excruciating agony. The problem with canal-phones is the wire noise. People say things like "the wire isn't grounded" or something like that, but try this. Stick a finger in each ear to block out sound and eat a potato chip. Hear that really loud crunching? Are you saying it's because your fingers aren't grounded? Wire noise is just the nature of the beast with canal-phones (unless you're willing to...Read more
