3.0 out of 5 stars Beginner's Rice Cooker, January 2, 2012
This review is from: Ps 8 Cup Rice Cooker (Kitchen)
This cooker doesn't make 8 cups of rice -- it makes 8 servings (by their definition) of rice, which is four six-ounce cups (cooked). Although I carefully followed the instructions, my cooker spits, and I have to wipe up quite a puddle of starchy water either during or after cooking. That being said, the cooker makes rice quite well. It takes about the same amount of time as making the rice on the stove top; but the cooker keeps the rice warm, so I can make it well ahead of time if I want to. The pot cleans up like a dream. The cooker is an easy-to-store small size. Overall, I'd much rather use this cooker than make the rice in a pan on the stove. If you're watching your pennies, don't need huge quantities of rice, and can put up with the spitting, then this is a decent choice for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only holds 6 cups cooked rice, September 11, 2011
By
The 8 cup description is misleading, and the description on its box is actually fraudulent. The maximum amount of raw rice you can cook in this tiny machine is 2 8-ounce cups, and its actual volume is 6 8 ounce cups. The directions inside let you know that by "cup", they mean "rice cup" which is only 3/4 of an 8-ounce cup. But the French- and Spanish-language sides of the box clearly state that the capacity of the cooker is 1.9L. But 1.9 Liters is 2 quarts, or 8 8-ounce cups, which this machine cannot hold . Unless they've also invented the "rice-Liter," the box description is an outright lie. The volume up to the MAX line, which the directions say not to exceed, is only 5 1/3 cups (8 ounce measuring cups, that is).

If you need to make more than 2 cups of white rice at a time, or, as I did, brown rice, that needs even more water, get a larger machine, and make sure it makes clear the capacity of raw rice or cooked rice it can hold. I wish I had paid for mine (not bought...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Irritated, September 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ps 8 Cup Rice Cooker (Kitchen)
So i ordered this product, when I saw it could fit 4-8 cups, and that is a lie. I planned on making some mean jollof pasta and brown rice with this but when it came, it was too small, and when I mean small I mean it can literally fit just about 2 and a half packs of ramen noodles, it cooks really slow, so i would call this a slow cooker instead o a rice cooker, it looked good and did not come broken, but I will give it a 2 star rating for the wrong info in product details, this can marely cook 2 cups yet alone 4-8, plus it is very slow, I have owned it for 1 month now, used it once and dont plan on using it again for a long time. If you have a family of more than 2 to feed, then dont buy this, college student? yes u can buy it, if u have the patience to wait 1hr for your food to cook. Good luck :)
