The Sennheiser HD65 TV headset is advertised as being for listening to TV -- for which is it great, especially with the (detachable) wire extension that allows you to sit a decent distance from a TV. But in general it is far superior for listening to spoken audio than music-oriented headphones, which have too much bass bias. With full-coverage earpieces, the sound you want to hear is beautifully isolated from external sounds, which are very muted and in the background. That also means the volume can be kept quite modest -- and safe for your hearing.
I bought this headset for listening to audio that I do closed captioning for, and for general audio transcription of lectures, presentations, etc. It is ideally-suited because of the spoken-voice clarity. For that usage, it's as good as it gets.

Bought these for my 83 year mother. We/she loved using our wireless Sennheiser 120s but she couldn't handle the volume control and remembering to turn the things on/off. So we got her these wired ones instead. Not as good sound quality, kind of tinny and had the volume control all the way up and still not lound enough. We bought these because all of the wireless headphones had a tuner and a volume control that were difficult and confusing for an 83 year old. She has peripheral neuropathy so doesn't have such good feeling in the hands, so distinguishing and changing the volumne on the 120s were too hard for her. Unfortunately the sound is no good. We will probably have to get her the 120s and she'll just have to struggle with the volume control because at least those had decent sound. Might try using these to replace our old wired headphones we use with the computer but for the price the sound quality seemed pretty bad.

I ORDERED THE SENNHEISER HD 65 HEADPHONES IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO WATCH TV WITHOUT DISTURBING MY WIFE DUE TO THE SOUND LEVEL I NEED BECAUSE MY HEARING IS NO LONGER WHAT IT USED TO BE. THE PERFOR- MANCE OF THESE HEADPHONES IS CERTAINLY EVERYTHING I EXPECTED AND I FOUND THE AMAZON PRICE QUITE REASONABLE. CORDIALLY, HORACE PIEGER
