Product Review
The Sennheiser HD433 headphones offer excellent sound and sport a lightweight design that you can use either on a home or portable stereo. The HD433 earpieces sit flush against your ears rather than enclosing them or resting inside them.
A 10-foot OFC (oxygen-free copper) cord frees you to move about or merely sit across the room from your stereo during private listening. The HD433's sturdy, one-piece headband grips firmly but not too tightly for a snug fit that blocks external noise while keeping the 'phones in place for walking or even more strenuous exercise (though jogging may require unusual measures to keep the lengthy cord out of the way).
The minijack plug comes with a 0.25-inch adapter, so the 'phones are ready for any headphone jack. While credited with a full-range frequency response of 18 to 20,000 Hz, the HD433s prove a little light in the deep bass, though not so much as to sound thin or tinny. Rather, they sound mellow and natural, letting the music speak for itself with no undue peaks in either the bass or treble.
The headphones sound particularly good with components (such as CD players or integrated amplifiers) offering high-grade headphone jacks. They tend to sound just a little flatter and less dynamic with portable devices, but a bass boost can help here. Sennheiser's HD433 is a good headphone that won't insult your musical sensibility or cost you a small fortune.
--Michael Mikesell Pros: - Full, fast sound
- Good tonal balance
- Works well with home or portable stereos
- Long cord
- Lightweight construction
Cons: - Slightly limited at extremely high and low frequencies

Anybody who has bought headphones in the $10-30 range has probably experienced the same thing I have: lousy sound. I listened to a friend's set of high-end Sennheiser headphones last year and the brand name stuck in my head. So a few weeks ago I decided to buy a set of headphones and went for the low end of the brand I knew. It was a good thing I did.First, the cord is of good length, 10 feet. This wasn't a big concern as I was originally planning on using these at work but just for fun I decided to test them on my home stereo system (Harman/Kardon) and a DVD (The Matrix, what else!). I put the volume to a level that would normally get readings on a Richter scale and let it rip. I was amazed at the clarity of the sound, richness of the bass, and above all, no distortion. That was something I didn't expect from a $20 pair of headphones. Needless to say, these haven't made it into work with me yet as they reach to my couch just fine. I still watch movies without...Read more

I purchased these headphones for home use with my Sony Walkman CD player. I would rate the sound quality as very high. They are much, much better sounding than the standard issue headphones that come with most personal listening devices. They fit snuggly, but not too tightly as to be uncomfortable, even for extended periods. The cord is nice and long and thicker than most, so it doesn't tangle. My cord attaches to both earpieces, not just the left earpiece, but this is not a problem. I would not recommend purchasing these if you intend to use them while exercising, jogging, ect., because they are too large and would be too hot. These headphones seem to be a very good value given their price.

I must say that the sound quality is very impressive. The audio is very crisp and natural. Most of the other headphones I tried are just bassy and muddy. Because of that, it may take you a little while to get use to the sound. I've been using Sony for the past 6 years, i must say that i'm incredibly disappointed with Sony's inferior sound quality (MDR-700, who would have thought)I do however disagree with the editorial review about the limited high frequencies: 20kHz is more than enough, as a matter of fact people who could hear at this frequency should consider themselves very lucky. headphones that could output mid-20kHz range wouldn't make a difference to most people, as the majority wouldn't pick up anything at those frequencies anyway. So the high-frequency response of these headphones is not all that limited, in my opinion, its just about right :-)
