Summary: Nice, but not perfect 2008-08-06
Comment: When my wife gave me these as a replacement for the worn out Sony's I had been using, I was actually a little disappointed. I liked what I was using.

For the record, these are my computer headphones. I'd guess that I wear them at least two hours every day. I've had the 140's for at least a year now.

The sound is nice. Not audiophile quality, and not as nice as the old $100 Sony's these replaced.

The fit is not *quite* right for me. I have a large head and fully extended these are just barely large enough. I frequently wear a thin wool cap in the winter and that little bit of difference makes them uncomfortable.

Range is not important to me, but they do pick up fine throughout my house if I get up and walk around. Oddly though, they are the most temperamental when sitting right in front of the computer. Every so often I will start hearing static and will have to reach back and move the base slightly. I'm not sure what causes this. I'm bad about leaving the headset off the charger, so it could be a battery going low.

Again, these aren't perfect, but at this point I'm not sure if I could go back to a wired headset now that I'm used to these.

Summary: Excellent for understanding TV speach 2008-07-10
Comment: My wife and I are 78 years old and enjoy movies. We can understand news anchors and commercials on TV with no problem. However, in the movies when they are whispering sweet nothings to each other or talking when facing away from the camera we cannot understand what they are saying no matter how loud we turn up the volume. With these headphones we can understand every word and still keep the volume down. I bought a second set of headphones, the HDR 140, to go with the RS-140 so we each have a set of headphones. It was a good investment for us.

Summary: These are expensive, but WORTH it...... 2007-08-18
Comment: I was actually able to buy a refurbished set of these headphones with the baseset for an excellent price. The headphones I owned before these were a very BAD quality set of RCA wireless phones. The range was no more than about 10 feet before static would completely override the sound that you were listening to. When I got these and heard the quality, my jaw hit the floor. You have to understand that with ANY wireless audio device, there's always the chance for interference. The level of interference that I experience while using THESE earphones is probably about .1%. I mean these things sound CLEAR. It has automatic frequency adjusting so when you turn them on, they automatically adjust to the clearest setting possible, then on the right side, there's also a manual setting when you want to tweak it exactly to your level of clarity. The sound compression setting switch seems to give the sound extra bass and a general lift in overall quality. It sounds a bit deeper and vibrant for those that like thickness in their movie listening experience.
It charges by simply hanging it on the base set. You have to be SURE to put rechargeable batteries in the headset if you plan on recharging it, otherwise if you put alkaline batteries in the headset and place it on the recharger, you're going to get a big surprise when those batteries overheat from being charged. With rechargeable batteries in it, you just hang it on the stand whenever you're not using them, and they stay charged up all the time.
The range is STELLAR. I've walked around every inch of my apt with the headphones on, and never experience ANY static. One time I went outside and downstairs to my UNDERGROUND carport, and I was STILL getting sound! Granted it was static with the sound, but I was shocked that I could still hear the program playing, as when I go down to my car, my cellphone usually has NO BARS by the time I get down there, so to see that I was still getting some sound out of the headset even while being in an underground parking lot made me really respect the engineering involved in making these headphones. I recommend them HIGHLY.
