Not bad! I bought a pair of $5 JVC-HAF10 earphones couple years back and didn't like the "low treble, low bass" quality but these Sentry MetaliX are not much better. (sigh). I guess I can't buy good earphones for less than $10 these days.

Pros:
No buzz sound (regardless of how loud the volume is, which beats the JVC)
Good noise reduction (not completely but for $5, this is superb!)
Comes with a free padded carrying bag and extra pair of rubber cover

Cons:
Very monotone, no stereo at all (worse than the JVC)
One of the bud is louder than the other so the sound is unbalanced

This is not a complaint! For $5, my expectations isn't high to begin with. This review is only based on my opinion and comparison to other earphones I have used. I found a pair of these earbuds on sale at a local store, and bought them for myself as a Christmas present. I have never been more impressed by a pair of earbuds. The clarity, even at extremely high volumes, is amazing. The bass response is phenomenal. At high volumes, one would wonder why the bass is not shaking the entire room.

The buds came with two pairs of rubber inserts, so smaller ones can be used for smaller ears. They are comfortable enough to fall asleep wearing them, and snug enough to be noise-canceling at low volumes.

They are well worth the price, and much more comfortable than higher-priced earbuds.

Let me get this out of the way..the Metalix series is available in 5 or 6 colors and are all listed as seperate products on Amazon. I have the Black/Silver but just chose this product page since it only had 1 review. When looking for an overall performance indicator ALL the reviews and ratings should be averaged together.

Ok now onto the review. Construction wise these buds are ALL METAL. The ENTIRE speaker housing, the lead in from the cord/housing, AND the plug. If all my full size headphones were made of 100% METAL I'd be a happy camper.....but plastic reigns supreme from a cost perspective on MOST headphone products.

For the street price of $5 at Big Lots these deserve at LEAST a 4 star rating. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is their lack of performance on Rock, Hard Rock, Jazz and...... Metal....this is the ironic part.
