Product Description

Thrill to every nuance while listening to recorded music being delivered to your ears alone, without encumbering on anyone else. This cordless headphone uses 2.4GHz wireless radio frequencies allowing you to move up to about 90 feet from the source. This means you can enjoy the comforts of your home and even the patio while listening to the MFR-S6000 headphones. In addition, it's geared to deliver virtual surround from 5.1 channel sound sources. That means these headphones are a suitable match for home-theater sound. Sit back, relax, enjoy what you're listening!

Summary: Buyer Beware - These Headphones are the worst I have owned 2008-12-02
Comment: This is the worst set of wireless headphones I have ever owned. I have had both a Sennheiser T 40 and Sharper Image CT-412 in the past and they were far superior to the Sony headphones. The biggest issue I have is distortion. If the microwave oven is operating 2 rooms away or I am sitting near my computer transmitting over a wireless connection I loose the signal completely. Walk more than 30 feet from the base station - I loose the signal.
The other big problem with the headphone is the on/off switch. It is operated by a strap that is connected to a spring that is connected to the switch. When you place the headphones on your head the strap pulls the spring which activates the switch. Nice idea unless the contacts in the switch start to wear or the strap / spring arrangement doesn't pull taught enough then the headphones start to turn off and on randomly. Save your money and don't bother with these headphones... they're not worth it. If you do get a wireless headphone make sure there is a good return policy so that you can send them back if you find the range or the level of interference is unacceptable.

Summary: Sony MDR-DS6000 5 Stars 2008-10-15
Comment: I bought this items because i wanted to experience 5.1 sound on my Xbox 360 and PS3. I found this items to be superb compared to my Turtle Beach X3.

The frequency that it uses is way better then infrared because you can walk anyone in your house and not have to be in the line of sight. I Did not get any distortion when i am on the right channel.

2.4ghz has 11 channels. My wireless is on channel 11 and phone is one some channel who knows what channel my home phone is on. So when i turn on the ds6000 i press my Tune Channel button 4 times and my headset channel 1 time and that is my clear channel i do not get any distortions. I hear every single awesome sound on Battlefield from footsteps approaching behind me to the bass sound explosion when a tank has blown the wall. On the PS3 that Sound is worth drueling over when you put on on blu ray. I did not buy a toslink switch and have it hooked on by optical cable.

I give this items 5 stars i wish there was a designated channel which you can set it on but i just press the channel 4 times and its set.

Comment: Used both the Sony and the Panasonic RP-WF6000. The Sony has much less background noise during quiet passages and is very similar in all other respects. Only negative is the difficulty of aligning the charge connector in the base. Operation in a congested WiFi office environment yielded only occasional interference, resolved by selecting a different channel (on base and head set). Sound is somewhat better than panasonic but is subjective (more bass, clearer more transparent). Used optical only to vet function. Would reccommend this to others, works well.

Summary: Incredible sound but nonstop clicking!! 2008-07-12
Comment: I bought these headphones at the Sony Style store, figured that they would be better than the 900MHZ, the sound is so much better but all I could hear nonstop while listening to my TV was clicks, as if there was static in the background or something. All I heard were clicks and it was very bothersome, So I am considering returning these. They don't make much noise in the plastic part because they are better made than the 900MHZ headphones, but the 900s don't have any clicks. They both have their negatives and postives.

Comment: got great sound all through the house. Movies are like my large surround sound unit, but without bothering others. Great quality and rate it #1.
