Amazon.com Product Description

These Street Style headphones employ the comfortable and stable behind-the-neck design. They have a spiral headband style, and with their non-slip design, they are ideal for a few laps around the track or for a walk to the corner market. The MDR-G73LPs are a metallic blue color and have a hi-tech, modern style. The behind-the-neck style is very appropriate for urban and casual wear; remember that with this style you can wear a hat while wearing the headphones. The headphones have a folding mechanism which allows them to be stored in a backpack or purse. The MDR-G73LPs were designed for extended wear, and, weighing in at under two ounces, you may indeed forget you are wearing headphones.

Sony has installed several technical features to the headphones to ensure a quality listening experience. The thirty millimeter drive units are large for portable headphones, and deliver deep bass, low distortion and a wide frequency response range (14 - 24,000 Hz). Sony's Acoustic Twin Turbo circuit achieves high sonic output by utilizying sound chamber and duct technology. Neodymium magnets give the headphones maximum energy at a minimal size and weight, while the oxygen-free copper cord provides high conductivity and minimum noise. The gold-plated stereo mini-plug makes sure that sound is transported fully and accurately. The gold-plated treatment also helps resist corrosion and supports the headphones' high conductivity and low noise. The five foot long, single-sided cord is plenty long for active pursuits.

Summary: Great Headphones! 2007-09-13
Comment: These headphones work great they are very comfortable and sound quality on them is awesome! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good solid pair of headphones. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is because they are a bit difficult to get on and stay on my ears, but this is probably due to the fact that I have long hair that does not like to cooperate. All-in-all these are great headphones and a good buy, just don't get frustrated if your hair is long and they're a bit difficult with it.

Summary: Amazing Headphones 2007-03-03
Comment: These are the best headphones. Ever. I guess I must have the properly shaped ears or whatever it takes for these to work, but boy do they ever. Any other headphones I've used--over-ear, buds, over-head, whatever--get uncomfortable after anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour of use, no matter how nice. These? I can sit down at my desk in the morning, put 'em on, and take them off only for breaks and lunch (working up to 16-hour days), and all without a problem.

As for sound quality, it sounds fine to me, though I'm a bit of a cretin. If I can hear the music fine, and have to take off the headphones to hear a word somebody standing next to me says, I'm happy.

Summary: Very pleased 2006-11-04
Comment: A friend recommended this set of headphones for the quality of the sound and the comfort. I have been more than pleased with the set for these two reasons. I have now recommended the set to several others.

Summary: Compact and Unique but can use a bit of tweeking 2006-06-07
Comment: I love these headphones but they CAN take a while to get use to and even need a little tweaking so that it suits the wearer.

I've had a pair of these Sony headphones for over two years and use nothing else but them. I'm the type of person that does not like earbuds or sticking anything into my ears. I would rather use the earphones that go over the head but those are not exactly great for traveling with. So that left me with earphones that slips over the ear and that's not too many to choose from. A lot of earphones that clip or slip over the ear also tend to hurt the back or front of the ear and that became a nuisance to consider.

It did take me a while to get use to my set of headphones in the beginning. I ended up bending the wire embedded inside a lot but once I got it the way I liked it I used nothing else. It is quite flexible and bendable, just don't try to snap it in half, it might damage the wire within though I haven't had it happen yet. I love how compact it is and the fact that there is only one wire coming from the headphones so you don't have to worry about getting it tangled up. Like most Sony headphones, the sound is great. The design is nice and simplistic. I've read reviews where people said they're too flashy but I don't think so. They're kind of cool and unique. :)

Customer Rating: 5 Star
Summary: sweatband 2006-04-08
Comment: I have a lot of headphones, earbuds, and what not lying around my house and am pretty picky when it comes to listening to music. These are some of my favorites but a few notes. 1) I don't like earbuds or earphones and even expensive ones like Shure I think sound tinny. 2) I wear headphones for longer periods of time when cycling and comfort is a big factor.

The good news and bad news about these headphones, the bad news is the fit is poor on many heads especially if the cord gets bent out of shape even a little bit. The good news is under a skihat or sweatband the sound is great and the comfort is great and it does not give you the total out in space effect an earcanal speaker would. The hat or band presses gently on the speakers and this keeps it in place and dramatically increases fidelity. The headband arrangement looks kind of geeky without a helmet or hat but for anyone looking for a cycling, skiing, jogging, type of arrangement this really is the best that I have found and I have tried many others.
