If you're looking for a throwaway set of phones for whatever, these might be good. However, if you're looking for something a bit sturdier, look at Sennheiser HD's or brands like those, these Sony phones have issues staying together.

Summary: Greaty Quality Headphones 2010-07-22
Comment: These head phones are amazing quality. I use them for personal/ portable use; I take public transportation (train) everyday to work and I am very pleased with the quality and comfort. My train ride is roughly 30 minutes and although these are not noise canceling headphones I can barely hear any outside noise while keeping the volume at a comfortable level. I also use the head phones at work during the majority of the time I am there. This is the only problem I have with these headphones. I work from 8-445 Monday through Friday so I am using these headphones for almost 6+ hrs. After more than 1- 1 1/2 hours of use the headphones start feeling uncomfortable and my ears start to really hurt so much that I have to take breaks in between usage. Don't get me wrong they are very comfortable, but after using the headphones for an excess amount of time they really put a strain on my ears.
I have read reviews that people think these headphones are made with cheap plastic and the joints that make the headphones swivel break easily. I have had no problems with the design of the product and no sings of anything breaking. Another thing is the cord is very lengthy was another issue I thought I would have a problem with. The cord has never been a problem, I actually enjoy the length of the cord, it doesn't get in the way
Other then that, I am very pleased with these head phones I use them all day during the week, amazing quality. Like I said I use these headphones for personal/portable use, not DJing, and I am very pleased with my purchase.

Comment: I'm writing this because after 8 years my pair of v700 are finally starting to fritz. The right ear does not play anymore and as frustrating as it is I cant be too upset. When I bought these they cost the o.g. price and were $180. Well needless to say I never had any problems with them ever. The sound was nasty, bass deep and they killed anythin I ever played. I loved plugging these in and bangin. Unfortunately after 8 years of use they finally started to go, I am not dissapointed at all, these are the greatest headphones I've ever owned and am looking to get my second pair. There may be better, i mean "newer" headphones out there but at this price?!? geez, i'd get two pairs of these before any crappy skull candy's or something.

Summary: Absolutely the Best 2010-07-08
Comment: These headphones have the highest sound quality out of every headphone pair that I have ever used. There is no distortion ever. I have cranked up the volume trying to get these to distort, but I fail every time. These can hurt your ears after wearing for over a couple hours, but it doesnt really bother me. Overall 5 stars.
