The MDR-W25G headphones fit inside the ear for jostle-free listening. Created to match the Sony Sports Walkman line, these headphones are built to meet the demands of the active listener. Besides the inherent snug fit of in-the-ear headphones, the MDR-W25Gs are also held in place with a slim, over-the-head headband. They are extremely lightweight and will provide hours of comfortable listening. These headphones are also water-resistant, taking away an easy excuse for many runners, walkers and bikers. Sony has also installed a moisture guard mechanism which pulls sweat away from the ear canal, providing a longer-lasting fit, even while pedaling or running in a warm gym. Sony uses 16 mm driver units in these headphones. While lightweight and small enough to fit inside the ear, they also deliver a good bass sound and wide frequency range (down to 10 Hz.) Neodymium magnets give the headphones maximum energy at a minimal size and weight. Sony Acoustic Twin Turbo Circuitry will deliver powerful bass sound for high efficiency as you work towards fitness. The open-air design allows for ambient noise to enter the ear, a safe feature for exercisers as you will hear car horns, passing bikers and dog barks. The cord is one meter long (3.3 feet) and the nickel-plated mini-plug offers crisp sound delivery. If you are looking for a quality-sounding, water-resistant, lightweight and stable pair of headphones, these MDR-W25G headphones should fit the bill. What's in the Box Sony MDR-W25G headphones

Comment: I must have extremely small ears as the ear pieces do not fit comfortably in my ears

Summary: Sony In Ear Headphone 2008-06-11
Comment: Fits very confortable in the ear. Excellent sound, better than other Sony headphones tested by mi at a Sony Store in P.R. If you don't want to pay $99.00 for a BOSE ear plugs, you can choose Sony MDR-W25G S2 Sports, and you will find there is no such a big difference when you weight the sound vs the price.

Summary: Big drivers.... too big to fit in my ears. 2008-02-16
Comment: These have to be one of the most uncomfortable headphones that I've used. I got these for jogging, because I found that the in ear styles fall off to easily, or the sweat just builds up. These allow sweat to escape easily. However, these things are incredibly uncomfortable. I guess it's because they try to make the drivers bigger for better sound quality. I have to squeeze them into my ears, and it just hurts, and is uncomfortable. Now don't get me wrong, the sound output isn't bad. But the way they fit in my ears, I don't get any sound out of my right side because it's such a tight fit, and the sound goes right into the side of my ear canal.
So, I have to wear these loosely, but when I do that, I lose any benefit of the larger drivers because it ends up allowing too much ambient noise from getting in.
I wish there was a way I could measure my ear canals so that this would actually be useful to anyone reading this, but if you think you have big ear canals, these might fit well and feel comfortable to you. But to me... these things are horrible.

Summary: Sound is fine, getting too bulky 2007-12-14
Comment: The Sony vertical headsets are good products because they have historically been reasonably small, so you could pull a stocking cap over them when running outdoors in the winter, and since they are 16 ohm units, they provide decent volume, unlike the cheapie earbud 32 or 64 ohm impedance garbage.
However, this particular model has grown (physically)- the white band on the side shows how much fatter it has gotten, so they bow out a bit when being worn. I prefer the previous simpler item (MDR-W08), which I no longer find in my local Target store.

Summary: If you don't like earbuds 2007-10-24
Comment: I searched high and low for headphones I can wear jogging or at the gym. I find the "earbud" and "over the ear" styles annoying and uncomfortable and I HATE it when other people have their music up so loud everyone around them is subjected to their usually bad taste in music. This seems to happen more with the earbud headphones than with other types. In any case, I have asked my friends if they can hear my music with these headphones and their answer is always "NO". Having said that, I don't have a desire to go deaf in the next five years, which means I keep the volume at a moderate level.
Also, I don't need to look "cool" - I just want good sound quality and headphones that will stay put and not hurt my ears. The sound quality is superior to the other brands in the same price range, but these headphones are not meant for listening to opera, either, so don't buy them and then complain that you can't hear the third violin.
As for staying put, these do. And, if you are a small person with a small head, then these are great, as other brands in the same style were simply too big for my head even when fully retracted.
So, in a nutshell, if you want headphones for excercising only (but not bike riding with a helmet on, as someone mentioned), then these are great. The only thing I wish is that the cords were retractable so I wouldn't get them tangled all the time.
