First I tried the SONY MDR-ZX100 headphones that were on average $10 cheaper. They sounded really good as well for the price. I read in many reviews that if you upgrade to the SONY MDR-ZX300 for about $10 more the overall sound and base is much better! I am happy to say that it is very true, the volume level and total sound spectrum is MUCH better. The highs are crisp and the base is in fact richer (deeper) and not at all muddy. You will also notice that the mids are very well balanced and is actually very surprising in this price range! I decided to go with the red version of the SONY MDR-ZX300 headphones because they just look really GOOD!!!! In my opinion this may be the best headphones value on the market bar none! If you need really good headphones that look, sound, feel and perform great in the $20-$30 price range look no further you just found them!!!!!!
UPDATE: I like these Sony MDR-ZX300 headphones so much as everyday beater headphones that I just purchased ANOTHER...Read more

I was looking for some headphones for my wife and found these. I tried about 5 different pairs ranging from $30 to $150. Overall, this pair sounds as good or better as anything I tried. Although the build quality isn't amazing, the ear cushions were surprisingly comfortable for the hour or so that I tried them and the highs are very clear for the price range. I wish that the bass extended down a little lower (perhaps a drawback of the 30mm driver), but the frequencies that are present are strong enough. I would also like a little more external noise reduction, but considering that they're on ear and this inexpensive, I'm not surprised. Again, a great purchase for my wife for general listening. She is very happy with them.

I bought my hubby a red sony mp3 player for Christmas and wanted to get him a pair of headphones to go with it. I went to the store and tested out a few Skullcandy headphones but they all seemed a little flimsy and plasticy. I decided to go with this one, just from looking at it online, because I've never had a bad experience with Sony headphones. My hubby loves these headphones. The red is a deep red, almost burgundy, really nice. When I saw I first saw it, I said, "Ooooh pretty" LOL. The headphones also sit comfortably, and the they're not so big that if u have it around your neck, it won't be hitting your face every time you move. Sound wise, they sound like any other headphones -- I'm not an audiohead so I can't comment on any technical aspect. What I can say is that the headphones look good, sounds good enough to me, and is affordable.
