I've sampled many headphones ranging from those cheap $15 Sony headphones you buy at Staples to the highly priced $200 Dre's beats. And I must say, the KOSS UR55 is definitely a great buy. Prior to owning these, I went though about 4 Sony MDR-V150. Each of them broke or wore out after so much wear and usage.
I was a little bit skeptic with the KOSS UR55's because I'm not all that familiar with the brand and little opinion about these are available. However, I decided to take a chance and order these. I'm glad to say I made the right choice! The vibration and clarity of the bass is very strong and stable without distorting the sound. Whether you listen to techno, metal, or hip-hop at max volume, the bass delivers a great quality of sound. The treble is right there with it as far as clarity and quality. Solid headphones. Bass and trebles are solid. Mid's tend to be muddy which is my only objection. Hopefully once they break-in I will be even more pleased. The porta-pros are excellent sounding headphones as well.

So, a few weeks ago I started shopping for decent headphones so I could listen to my music in good quality without being at home, so I was looking for something portable, comfortable, but that sounded great.
The first pair of headphones I decided on were the Koss UR40s, which sounded great and were very comfortable, and still quite portable. However, I broke the first pair in less that two weeks when I was walking out my door and the cable caught on the door knob and gave it a slight tug. So, I got another pair for free with Koss' warranty. I was a little more careful with the second pair, but I broke them also when I stood up to get out of the car, and they caught on the handle for the reclining seat. This time the tug was a little more severe, they wouldn't even make a sound after that. So, I was disappointed, and didn't want to spend money on new headphones, but didn't want to have to keep replacing the UR40. But I had a $25 gift card to amazon and figured I could get...Read more
