According to some sites, V-Moda has a reputation of changing the freq curve of different models, sometimes on a production to production basis. That said, it's half the reason I bought these - I like a company that has that much devotion to making a good product.
When I first received them, they didn't sound worth the 85 bucks I paid for them. They were pretty good in the bass department but seemed average everywhere else, comparable to a pair of bad Sony EX-71's. I put them away after a few songs, and when I came back to them they were the worst sounding phones I've ever heard. The bass was muddy, the mids were muddier, and the highs were unlistenable. It sounded like an AM transmission. However, if you're looking into buying in-ear canalphones you should be aware that every pair must incur a burn-in period, in which the phones level...Read more 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: V-MODA Vibe In-Ear Noise-Isolating Metal Headphone (Red Roxx) (Electronics) The product looks and feels better in your hands (and ears) than in the photographs!!!
As far as sound quality I was concerned when I first listened to my iPod. I plugged the iPod in to a power source, adjusted the volume to approximately 3/4 of max and let them play. I forgot about the break in and let them run for 2 full days. When I tried the V-MODA Vibes again it was night and day. The sound stage was accurate and crisp and not peeked in the mid-range. I don't know if the magic took the 2 full days or not because I did not listen at any point in the process. I can't comment on reliability other than no problems yet. 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By BAK "takes it all too seriously" (Durham, NC United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: V-MODA Vibe In-Ear Noise-Isolating Metal Headphone (Red Roxx) (Electronics) I've owned the Red Roxx for a few weeks now. I had the Sennheiser PX100 which, like all over the hear headphones, very quickly started to hurt because of the pressure on my ears. I had the Koss over-the-ear clips phones, which are pretty good but has a pretty loose fit and thus you had to turn the volume up to compensate. I also used the came-with-the ipod earbud, but not so great.
I wanted "good" phones but also ones that can be quickly be inserted and removed and hung around my neck. I walk around with my ipod and when people speak to me I need to be able to unplug my ears. I also needed something I could wear at the gym and use at home with the laptop. In-the-ear phones fulfilled these requirements the best. I have small ear canals and finding a good fit is an issue. I tried the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio Earphones, but I couldn't get the large "hearing aid" sized buds to stay in my ear at all and due to all of my fiddling with them, the wires...Read more |
